Keeping legacy racecars competitive is an emerging challenge. As factory support is withdrawn, part stocks quickly dwindle, and aftermarket support fades within a few years, forcing teams to look beyond the original platform to keep their cars running.
ΑΩΤΟΝ WORKS undertook a front braking system retrofit on a Citroën Saxo as part of its transition from FIA Group A to FIA JWRC S1600 homologation standards.
The task: adapt a donor brake system from the newer Citroën DS3 R3 to fit the Saxo's existing suspension geometry. The differences in hub, upright, and caliper mounting between the two platforms made this task non-trivial. We engineered a custom bell adapter that solved the packaging problem and bridged the two platforms.
Nine Hillclimb Championship wins later, the car is still running the same setup.
